Yoga that meets you where you are.

I've practised yoga since 2008, taught since 2013, and now help train new teachers for Modo Yoga. Today I work with a small number of people one-on-one: students who want a practice built around their own body, and new teachers who want someone in their corner.

About Anand

An eternal student, teaching since 2013.

I came to yoga in 2008 with a sore back and an anxious mind. A few simple postures and some steady breathing helped more than I expected. That's still what I love about it: you don't need much to start feeling better, and there's always more to learn.

I did my teacher training with Modo Yoga in Montreal in 2013 and have taught ever since, in heated and non-heated rooms, in person and online. I'm certified in Modo Yoga, Yin, Flow and Vinyasa yoga, and in Pilates, and I trained in advanced flow yoga with Bibi Rahim-Hahn. My classes run from slow and quiet to strong and sweaty: Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative and Chair Yoga, with breathwork and meditation woven through. You'll find me at Modo studios in Newmarket and Aurora, and at The Hummingbird Field in Toronto.

For the past few years I've also worked with new teachers, first as a Peer Support Guide for Modo graduates finding their feet, and since 2025 as a lecturer on Modo's teacher trainings, where I lead the posture workshop. Watching a nervous new teacher find their voice is one of my favourite parts of the job. I've brought yoga, breathwork and meditation to young people too, as a facilitator with the Newleaf Foundation.

A deep study and practice of Buddhism, mindfulness, and Taoist practice and philosophy sits underneath all of it. That, along with years of floatation therapy, keeps me focused on the quiet side of yoga: the breath and the attention, not just the shapes. And my osteopathy training means I can explain what's happening in your body in plain words and help you practise safely.

Show up, stay a beginner, and teach what you learn. That's how I practise, and it's what I'll help you do too.

Ways to work together

Small, personal and built around you.

I'm shaping these now. If one of them sounds like you, tell me below and I'll be in touch when spots open, with details and pricing.

Mentorship for new teachers

You've finished your training. Now what? We'll work on sequencing, cueing, hands-on assists, reading a room, and building a teaching life that lasts longer than your first year.

For: recently certified teachers, and teachers coming back after a break. I've done this for the past few years as a Peer Support Guide for Modo graduates.

Private classes

One-on-one sessions built around your body, your goals and your schedule. Ideal if you're new to yoga, working around an old injury, or want to go deeper than a group class allows.

For: students of any level, athletes, and anyone stiff from a desk.

Workshops and studio visits

Breakdowns for studios and teacher trainings: posture clinics, breathwork, and safer ways into the poses people struggle with.

For: studios, teacher trainings and teams.

How I teach

Plain words. Real bodies.

The pose serves you

Not the other way round. We change the shape to fit your body, not your body to fit the shape.

Clear, simple cues

If you need a dictionary to follow the class, the teacher has failed. I say what I mean.

A practitioner's eye

Years of osteopathy mean I notice how you move and compensate, and I'll tell you what I see.

Built to last

The goal is a practice you'll still enjoy at 70. Steady beats spectacular.

Questions

I'm not flexible. Can I still do this?

Yes. Flexibility is something yoga builds, not something you need to start. Most of my private students begin stiff.

Where do private classes happen?

In Toronto, at a studio or in your home, and online if that suits you better. Tell me what works in the form and we'll sort it out.

I've just finished my teacher training. Is mentorship for me?

That's exactly who it's for. Many teachers finish a training full of knowledge and short on confidence. Mentorship closes that gap.

How much does it cost?

I'm finalizing the options now. Fill in the form and I'll send details and pricing (in CA$ + HST) as soon as they're set, with no obligation.

I have an injury. Is yoga safe for me?

Often, with the right changes. Tell me about it in the form. If it needs a closer look first, I may suggest an osteopathy visit or a check-in with your doctor.
